New updates on vanadate compounds synthesis and visible-light-driven photocatalytic applications

Photocatalysis is known as a new and cost-effective method to solve the problems of energy shortage environmental pollution. Although application this seems practical, finding an efficient stable photocatalyst with suitable bandgap visible-light sensitivity remains challenging. In context, vanadate compounds photocatalysts have been synthesized used emerging composites, their efficiency has improved through elemental doping morphology modifications. review, major synthesis methods, design latest photocatalytic based on are presented. addition, effect microstructures various applications such hydrogen production, CO2 reduction, removal organic pollutants heavy metals discussed. For instance, 2D-1D BiVO4/CdS heterostructure enhances 40 times production from benzyl alcohol than pure BiVO4. Similarly, InVO4/Bi2WO6 composite superior capability for reduction into CO compared InVO4. A rate 18 μmol.g−1.h−1 can be achieved by using heterostructure. Regarding pollutants’ removal, use Montmorillonite/BiVO4 structure allows complete Brilliant Red 80 dye after only 2 hours irradiation. Finally, copper metal reduced 90 % in water, BiVO4/rGO/g-C3N4 optimized structure. Other examples decorated enhancing activities also treated.

Well-defined m-BiVO(4) nanoplates with exposed {001} facets have been synthesized by a facile hydrothermal route, without the use of any template or organic surfactant.
